House Dreams

I know that I am slightly obsessed with home decor at the minute. And I know that it stems from overhauling the whole house, one room at a time. But I think that I actually have a problem… I’m even dreaming about it now!

Hubby was having a bit of a moan the other day about me buying ‘pointless stuff’ for the house. Now you and me both know that the pointless stuff he was talking about is what actually makes a house – things like pictures, ornaments, plants and little nic-nacs, things that give a house personality!

Anyway, back to the dream. I come home to find hubby with bin bags, running round the house collecting all said decorative items, ready to take them to the tip! I start crying, saying how important these things are to me but he just won’t stop!

What does it all I mean, I wonder? Do I need to stop buying things? Or do I need to train hubby and show him the error of his ways.

Anyway, I thought I would share some of this ‘pointless stuff’ with you!

This little collection of vases are so versatile. They look equally as good with nothing in, or with flowers and leaves in. The brass ‘hello’ sign is a recent addition. I don’t normally go for brass, but I couldn’t resist this and I think it goes well with the greys.

Can you imagine how boring these side tables would be without the ‘pointless stuff’? There’s still plenty of room to place your cup but they look nice as well.

If you read my post about decorating with houseplants then you will know this is another of my current obsessions! I do feel slightly bad about this, as it is hubby who looks after the plants but don’t tell him I said that!

These little shelves are great for displaying any small items that jump into my basket whilst shopping and hubby doesn’t mind, or maybe he doesn’t notice! But I think it’s these little beauties that he really thinks are pointless!

I completely disagree – think of the fun you can have with these! I’m sure you will see lots more of these in future posts.

Having said all of that, I think it’s good to dream. It has made me reign my shopping in a little bit, as we still have a lot of work to do in the house and I want to be able to buy more pointless stuff for other rooms!
