Decorating with houseplants

You can’t fail to have noticed how popular houseplants have become again. Way back in the 70’s and 80’s they had their hay day, then seemed to die and a death, the only place to be  found was on your granny’s windowsill!

Decorating with houseplants has become an easy and affordable way of adding interest to a room and making it look ‘finished’. Indoor plants are relatively low maintenance, they boost oxygen, clean the air and bring a sense of nature to your home. But even fake houseplants have made a comeback, with some very realistic ones being available.

Today I’m going to share with you some ways to incorporate plants into your decor easily.

On a shelf

Plants are a great way to add interest to a shelf – you can vary the height, cover the side of the shelf with a hanging plant or simply add a natural pop of colour.

Clusters

Clusters are a perfect way to make a statement anywhere in your home. You can stick to one type of plant, like cactus, or a colour scheme with you pots.

Plant Stands

Plant stands are an excellent way to make a feature of a single plant, like in the images below. There’s even a link for a simple D.I.Y version!

Space fillers

When I say space fillers, I mean huge plants to fill empty corners or divide rooms.
