The Castle – the shop of simple pleasures

FullSizeRender 5.jpgWell here it is, as promised, my new favourite home decor shop! It’s name does not do it justice as there is nothing simple about it, far from it! If ever you are passing through Ripon, North Yorkshire you have to call in here, but be warned you may be a while. This is a shop you could spend hours browsing in. In fact, when three generations visited there today (my mum, myself and my daughter), we went three times and discovered something different each time!

Every nook and cranny is just brimming with all things home decor, from large hand pieces of furniture and sofas, to the teeniest of ornaments. Be prepared for visual overload, as I share some of the photos I took today!

This is just to show you how full every space is. Everything in sight is for sale, including the bed!

They have mirrors in all shapes and sizes.

I love this oversized one.

They even stock bespoke kitchen units. A lot of their furniture is handmade and can be customised by size and colour.

As you know, I’m on the lookout for a large clock (see here); this one has been added to the list of contenders!

One of my favourite in the store is this wooden chest, with interesting knobs.

All of the knobs are sold individually, so you can customise your own furniture, if you don’t want to buy the chest.

The store also sells a lot of seasonal items, so at the minute is full of Easter chicks, rabbits and eggs.

These are a just a couple of my very favourite items from today’s list:

these gorgeous wooden arrows

and these amazing artificial flowers.

I think you’ll agree that there’s something to suit all tastes, but, that being said, I was very restrained and  the only two things which found their way into my basket were these:

the sea grass planter from my wish list (here), at half the price,

and this vase for my new laundry room, which you can see in my next update.

As if this wasn’t a treat enough, we walked a few hundred yard up the street and had coffee and the most amazing brownies I’ve ever tasted! Hope to visit The Castle again very soon.
